Principal's Message
Welcome to Strathmerton Primary School.
The school is situated in the rural township of Strathmerton and has a proud tradition of delivering quality education to students from both the township and surrounding areas of Yarroweyah and Bearii. The school has a warm and inviting environment and is well supported by the local community. The staff is committed to providing the best outcomes for all students, not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.
The school’s curriculum is comprehensive, with a strong emphasis on the attainment of literacy and numeracy skills, which are major goals in our Strategic Plan. A special feature of the school is the implementation of the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program that teaches students our ‘Strathy Stars’ expectations of Supporting Each Other, Trying Your Best, Acting Safely and showing Respect, so that everyone feels safe, supported and included.
There is no doubt that a strong home-school relationship leads to improved student performance, so we ensure that every parent/carer has ample opportunity to become involved in the life of the school. That involvement could be as a School Councillor, a member of our Parents and Friends Association, or more simply as a classroom volunteer, to hear students read or accompany them on an excursion. My office door is always open and I am happy to meet with parents/carers and the wider community.
A priority for me as acting principal is to ensure that we set high expectations for student achievement and student behaviour, so that every child can achieve success in an environment of mutual respect.
Looking forward to working with you.
